For a panacea that has recently seen a 454% increase in sales in the US, celery juice is surprisingly hard to find in the UK. I eventually track some down at Wild By Tart, a concept restaurant in central London, which sells 200ml of pure celery juice in neat reusable glass bottles for £2.75.

But while Italy has suffered its worst harvest in decades, Spain can thank climate change for its bumper olive crop, the Olive Oil Times reports. While Italy’s production dropped by more than 50%, Greece’s by 35% and Portugal’s by 20%, Spain’s olive oil production this season is expected to increase by 25% to nearly 1.8 million tons.

"We did our research and [Urmston] seemed to have the right demographic for what we wanted to do - young families, there's a lot of good schools, and it's really well connected so it's an amazing commuter town," says Kerry.

Disposable water bottles are a particularly egregious waste of plastic. By some counts, the world produces a million bottles of plastic a minute, only 9% of which will be recycled. And our pace of production has increased from 300 billion plastic bottles a year in 2004 to 475 billion in 2016. At this pace, we will generate 600 billion plastic bottles a year by 2021. The dozens of water brands on the market–including Evian, Dasani, Aquafina, Poland Spring, and Fiji–have helped to stimulate this enormous demand for disposable water bottles.

The history of canning is said to have begun with Napoleon. It's believed he offered 12,000 French francs to anyone who could find a way to prevent military food supplies from spoiling. Napoleon gave the prize in 1795 to Nicholas Appert, who invented the process of packing meat and poultry in glass bottles, corking them, and submerging them in boiling water.
